I’m offering today another one of my favorite baby dolls from the 1940's and 1950's era.  This is a large baby doll by Ideal known as what they call "Plassie Baby" with dark brown molded hair  She has hard plastic head with vinyl arms and legs.  Her body is cloth which I do believe the was replaced some years ago, but is nice and clean and so very soft.
Oh my goodness, wait till you see this doll in person.  She has always been one of my favorites by the fabulous Ideal Doll Company from the late 1940's or 1950's era.   I will start at the top of the doll and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description.  Starting at the top of her head, she has hand painted brown molded hair which does have some paint loss due to years of loving by her previous little mommies.   The large hair band around her head was designed and created by me so it would match her outfit.  The elastic wide band looks like crochet, but is stretch and fits the dolls head perfectly.  I attached a lovely white mum to the top of the hair band and placed it off center so you can see her precious big brown eyes.  It looks sooooo cute!  As you go down to her face, has beautiful big brown open close sleep eyes with long eyelashes which have been replaced some time ago.   Her eyes open and close freely and have such a precious look to them.
She has a dainty little nose with open nostrils for realism which flows down to her rose bud shape lips. Her lips are painted bright pinkish/red color with pucker-up look to them.  Her cheeks have beautiful coloring to blend well with her adorable big brown eyes.
Her arms and legs are vinyl with her head being that of hard plastic.  She has a softy cloth body which is nice and clean and ready to be displayed.  The back of her neck is hallmarked:  "Ideal Doll, Made in U.S.A., No. 2252077.  I looked up the Ideal number and discovered this dolls name is "Plassie Baby".  They made this doll in the 1940's and early 1950's era.  She is truly a beautiful baby doll.
Now to her adorable outfit I chose for her debut.  I chose a vintage hand made white cotton batiste dress from the same era as the doll.  The bodice has delicate pinch pleats which go across the entire front bodice.  The sleeves are short sleeve which come down to her delicate elbows.  They are trimmed with scalloped lace.   As you go down the long skirt of the dress, there are delicate hand embroidered flowers with open detail in the embroidery.  The hem edge on the dress is scalloped which has been hand embroidered.  As you go around to the back side of the dress, there are two delicate white buttons to keep the dress in place.  Under the dress, she is wearing a white cotton slip which has metal snaps to keep it in place.  Under her slip, she is wearing white cotton eyelet pantaloons which come down to her knees.  I had these adorable white cotton booties crocheted for her with delicate pink rosettes on top.  She is such a sweet baby doll and looks adorable holding her little pastel bunny rabbit.  This adorable baby doll will come with her very own pastel bunny rabbit to keep her company.  Her bunny rabbit is filled with pellets which allows the doll to snuggle nicely within the dolls arms.  So Sweet!
All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children.  Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll.  We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor.  My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new.   Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes.  If I've missed something it would never be intentional.
    SIZE:
This adorable 1940's and 1950's baby doll is a large size doll measuring approximately 20" tall.  Her pastel baby bunny rabbit measures approximately 8" tall.
    CONDITION:
As you can see from the photos, this vintage baby doll is one of the prettiest dolls ever!  Ideal made beautiful dolls in the 1940's and 1950's era and this one remains as lovely today as when she was back then.  Her hard plastic molded doll head does have some minor paint loss from being loved over the years.  Her vintage 1940's white batiste dress has been washed and laundered and ironed prior to her photos.  She may need to be fluffed up when she gets to her new home.  Sometimes the batiste wrinkles a bit during shipment.  I do believe her baby body was replaced many years ago; prior to my bringing her home.  Her eyelashes were replaced and look nice. Her white crocheted booties were made for this baby to wear.  She has been sprayed with sanitizer and is ready to be displayed and enjoyed.  She comes from a Covid free home.  We have been very careful over these past months of the pandemic and sanitize our hands and our home on a daily basis.
Please view complete set of photos for thorough description.  I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls.  God bless you.  Connie
