    Description

Shipping with Insurance by USPS Priority Mail. Up for auction is a VINTAGE CAMBRIDGE 12.5" GOLD ENCRUSTED #3500/64 MINERVA ETCHED 3-PART 4 TOED (FOOTED) 2 HANDLED RELISH TRAY. It is etched in the # 763 called the "Minerva" Pattern, and although this etched pattern was made from 1932 to 1939, the gold encrustation was only made from 1936 to 1939, making this piece between 81 and 84 years old. For its age, I would say that this bowl is almost in perfect "mint" condition. This glass comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously designed delicate floral sprays enclosing trellises with floral sprays and bows between each. I have never seen a gold encrustation in such perfect condition around both the handles and the pie-crust or "Gadroon" edging. Even all of the flared tips of gold are completely intact. Even the 2 gold encrusted handles are absolutely exquisitely designed with such fabulous attention to detail. The only worn gold is on top of the 3 crystal partitions as can be seen in the photographs. It probably took at least 8-10 people to create this one glass, from mixing and heating up the sand and other ingredients to the proper temperature, to pressing the glass mixture into the mold, and then slowly cooling it so it won't crack under use at home
, and then adding a waxy resist doily before dunking into the hot acid etch, and then finally rinsing off the wax coating with hot water. Finally, after
polishing the glass to make sure it is completely clean, the gold encrustation is then applied and then fired a final time to make sure it lasts for many years of use. I only wish I had more, because it is so gorgeous. When used on a set dining room table for entertainment, this serving piece must have looked really graceful on the table. It measures about 10 inches across its length (12 1/4 inches from handle to handle), 7 1/2 inches wide, and about 2 1/4 inch high, as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely beautiful and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, it is in almost perfect condition, as seen in the photographs. I found it inside a closed dining room cabinet where it apparently sat on a shelf for many years, and was hardly used, because there no scratches anywhere, except on the bottom of those 4 gorgeous tiny "toes" as feet were called back in the 1930's, as would be expected from an object this old. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always to to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on this 3-part crystal relish, except for those tiny scratches on the bottom of the feet. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal. and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping and Insurance sent via USPS Priority Mail at a cost of .85. Payment is expected within 3 days, after which I will immediately ship out the 3-part crystal relish as soon as payment is verified by eBay. Buyer may be subject to sales tax, which is collected by eBay, and never given to me at all. If payment is not received within 5 days, the 3-part crystal relish will be relisted.  Returns will be arranged only if I have shipped the wrong item, or if I have misrepresented the item or its condition. If you need more pictures or further details, please feel free to contact me. Please know that we can work together. I really would like a 5-star feedback from you. Thanks for looking at my auction, and "good luck".
