Description
DANCE WITH ME is one of the series of four of Donald Ruleaux's offset photolithograph prints (DAKOTA TRAIL, DECORATE THE LODGE, DANCE WITH ME, and CAPRIOLE) which were obtained for One Nation Gallery of Taos, New Mexico at the time the publisher, Virden Trading Company of Burnsville, Minnesota ceased doing business (1994). Individually offered at Pow Wows all across the United States these prints had proven themselves to be very popular. The artist Donald Ruleaux (1931-2020) is a registered member of the Oglala Band of the Lakota Nation (Sioux). He was a highly respected artist and art educator with a master of art education degree from Arizona State University, which was followed by a year long fellowship in Washington, DC. Mr. Ruleaux has emeritus status at his alma mater, Chadron College in Chadron, Nebraska. A recent addition to an already long list of accolades was his being awarded as Nebraska's Art Teacher of the Year 2012. The governor of Nebraska presented the award to Mr. Ruleaux at the annual awards banquet in the state capital.
The first two prints were done from Mr. Ruleaux's original watercolors. DECORATE THE LODGE showed nine dancing figures in precise detail. Each dancing figure was painted approximately three and a half inches high. Three paintings were completed containing a total of 29 figures. The original watercolor DECORATE THE LODGE won Best of Show at an art show in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1993. It was one of four Best of Show awards won by Mr. Ruleaux that year.
DANCE WITH ME shows five figures chosen from the first two paintings. The five figures are each approximately five inches high attesting to the amazing detail of the original painting. Overall paper size is 10.5" high by 22" wide. Image size is 5.5" by 17". Each print is done by offset photolithography on white 100lb. cover stock. Rest assured that these prints are on 100 pound white coverstock paper and are not
blemished or discolored. Somewhere between my photos and your viewing on eBay the photos have become discolored. The prints are in pristine condition (No marks, no discoloration.)
