Worm castings are rich in nutrients and are often said to be the best natural fertilizer available. They are often sold in dry form, but they can contain worm eggs which hatch and fill the soil with more worms. In open ground, that is a good thing, but you don't want them crawling through the soil of potted plants! To eliminate that risk we offer it here in concentrated liquid form. The worms are fed on dung from dairy cows which in turn are fed on organic vegetation. When the worms digest the dung they add enzymes as it passes through the gut. This process is repeated in our worm farm 4 times. The result is a rich organic nutrient simply teeming with beneficial microorganisms. They are dormant until exposed to air and water. When you dilute the concentrate, they spring into life to feed and protect your soil and your plants. Being a liquid, the roots of your plants can take up the nutrients very quickly. You can use it as a diluted foliar spray too.
Dilution instructions are printed on the label. However you can adjust the dilution based on the needs of your plants and your personal experience. You can never overfeed or burn your plants with this natural fertilizer. Frankly, we prefer to feed weakly, weekly. We use half or even a quarter of the recommended dilution factor, but feed more regularly, especially in the flowering season. We get super results in our plants at home this way.
It's easy to measure out the amount of concentrate you need to dilute because we quote in teaspoonfuls ( 5 ml) or dessertspoonfuls (15 ml). Just fill a spoon from the bottle, put it in a jug and add the amount of water recommended on the label. For most potted plants (excluding cactus and orchids) this is one tablespoonful of concentrate to 300 ml (10 fluid ounces) of water. This is usually enough for one potted plant in a 6 inch pot. Of course, if you choose the 'weakly weekly' system, you only need half (or less) of the amount of concentrate recommended on the label.
In addition to its nutritional properties it also builds up natural resistance in your plants to pest and fungal attack. Pests such as aphids, mealy bugs, looping caterpillars, beetles and others have an exoskeleton made of chitin. Our worm castings liquid fertilizer contains the natural chemical 'chitinase' which is the antidote to Chitin. It destroys the exoskeletons of bugs, usually overnight. Similarly many fungal infection are constructed of chitin, so the chitinase in our fertilizer helps to build natural protection against fungal infections.
Even when your plants are resting, it's a good idea to water them once a month. Use a very weak dilution of this concentrate to help build up your plants up for the next season.
Your bottle will be filled with fresh concentrate when you order. You can be assured that it is not old stock.
