    Description

Offered here is one (total of five available here at this time on eBay) signed and numbered limited edition fine art serigraph (Silk screen print) THE WHITE BUFFALO by Native American artist Donald Ruleaux (1931-2020)  approximately 15" x 36" on Reves BFK paper.  This limited edition (200 s/n, 28  Artist's proofs and 2 Printer's proofs) was printed in Denver, Colorado by Martin John Graphics in 1993 from the original watercolor of the same name.  It was printed the actual size of the original watercolor painting.  The process involved hand registering and hand pulling each sheet of paper for each of the thirteen colors.  As such each could be considered as an original.  At the artist's insistence only the highest quality materials were used.  After culling the print run (each culled print was destroyed) the artist hand signed and numbered each sheet in pencil.  So accurate was the printing that side by side with the original
the only differences are the numbering (Not present on the original) and title (Not present on the original watercolor) added by Mr. Ruleaux and the original signature.
Donald Ruleaux was a registered tribal member of the Oglala Band of the Lakota Nation (Sioux).  He was a highly respected artist and art educator.  After serving in the Navy he enrolled in art school in Kansas City. A degree in art education followed at Chadron College in Chadron, Nebraska.  For the next 33 years Mr. Ruleaux taught art K-12.  During that time he obtained a Master's degree in Art Education from Arizona State University which was followed with a prestigious year long fellowship in Washington, D.C.
Among his many accomplishments and accolades are many Best of Show awards at juried art competitions.  His artworks are included in many corporate and private collections in this country and abroad.  In 2012 he was named Nebraska's Outstanding Art Teacher for the year.  The award was presented at the annual banquet by the Governor of Nebraska.
This print is from the publisher's previously unsold inventory.  An Artist Proof was used for the images, but offered herein is are signed and numbered prints.  Originally the prints were offered through One Nation Gallery of Taos, New Mexico, which ceased doing business in 1998.  As I was the publisher of these prints I put them in safe storage (1998)  until recently when I decided to again offer them for sale.  These are in pristine condition without discoloration as printed on white Rives BFK paper.  Size is approximately 15" x 36".  If you are familiar with the story of the White Buffalo Calf Woman, then you will be more appreciative of this fine art work as a white buffalo has a very special meaning to the Sioux people.
Due to the nature of this artwork it must be shipped flat to prevent damage.  It is neither matted nor framed.  It be shipped by USPS Priority Mail.  It will be shipped insured for the purchase value and sandwiched in plywood over foamcore to protect the print.  Shipping expense will be paid by the seller.  Allow 3 days for packing prior to delivery to the post office.  Priority Mail should take approximately 3 days in the 48 states.
