Our worm castings are damp in order to maintain a livable environment for the
bacteria, fungi, beneficial nematodes and amoebas present in the compost. If you plan to store some of your compost long term we recommend using a bag with 2-3 holes to allow oxygen in, and do not let it dry out over time.
Some gardeners use 100% castings to start seeds in the springtime. Indoors and outdoors plants will benefit from an addition of castings any time during the growing season. When we bring plants in for the winter we mix about ten percent of castings into the existing soil before inserting the plant into a pot.
