Early Tom Morey Longboard Surfboard
9'0" x 21.5" x 3.5"
The fin is removeable and wedges back in. This might be an early attempt at a removeable fin system as Tom Morey was very innovative.
In 1962 Tom Hale opened a small shop in Ventura located at 235 W. Santa Clara St (where Patagonia is now). Tom Morey moved into that shop with Hale in 1963 and made Australian Surfboards. He changed the name to Morey in 1964. Then in 1965 Tom Morey and Karl Pope went into business together and opened Morey-Pope on Front St.
Australian Surf Shop was an outlet in Malibu (where Zuma Jay's currently stands) for Morey's early boards.
This was in a surf collection and stored indoors for many years.
