    Description

A little background on the artist
:  WOODY CRUMBO is a renowned
    Potawatomi Native American
whose work is in high demand. Up for sale is a professionally framed pair of gorgeous, vibrant "Spirit Horse" Serigraph silk screened prints. They are done
in crystalline blue, black, white, and gold, and the colors remain crisp and vivid.
    In an interview Crumbo stated:
“I use just two dimensions: flat-line and color. … I happen to like blue because it's a spiritual type of color that goes with the picture very good".  A critic's review notes that Crumbo's "...
modest words hardly prepare us for the power of his silkscreen of a turquoise “Spirit Horse,” with pure white star and cloudlike markings, free flowing white mane and tail, and proud prancing stance'.
Crumbo was born on his Citizen Potawatomi mother's a
llotment near Lexington on Jan. 31, 1912, and named after Woodrow Wilson.
He was a proud member of the Potawatomi Tribe of  Oklahoma. Crumbo was not only an artist, but a flautist and dancer who lived and worked mostly in the Western part of the United States.
His paintings are held by several major museums, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a large collection in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was i
nducted into the Hall of Fame for his unique paintings. He moved to Cimarron, New Mexico, in 1988, where he passed away in 1989.
The original painting of "Spirit Horse" remains museum property. There are at least 3 renditions of "Spirit Horse"; one is facing right, another is facing left, and one rendition is of the horse looking over his shoulder.
Additionally, there have been many sizes of "Spirit Horse". Some of the "Spirit Horse" images are signed in white paint or brown paint, others with a copyright, and still other signatures with the entire first and last name of Woody Crumbo. The "Spirit Horse" was first done as a limited edition in 1940. Research shows that the limited edition of the various renditions reach 1000 and more.
This gorgeous art is professionally matted and framed in original/vintage gold tone finish.  The matting has variances due to the natural aging process, but there is no "damage", no creasing, tears, fading, or water damage.
