    Description

    Worm Castings With Biochar!
    Super Soil Amendment!
This listing is for 1-5 lbs of worm castings with 20% biochar added to help super charge microbial growth.
    (Select above.)
Faster than a speeding mycorrhizae strand!
More powerful than a symbiotic relationship between plant and fungi!
Able to grow great mass in a single season!
    It's... It's... It's...
Your plants using worm castings with biochar!
    Up, up and away!
Use in the soil directly or in compost tea!
The use of worm castings is widespread and there are many sources you can learn about them from that can give you far more information than I can.
However, here's what I do know...
Worm castings are the manure of the worm. The poop. They are nearly odorless, smelling about like dirt, have a rich brown to black color and are a wonderful renewable nutrient source for plants!
They provide a nutrient dense, immediately available, no burn, soil amendment that helps improve soil structure and vastly improves beneficial microbial activity in your soil.
    Worm castings do not burn!
They are very, very safe for your plants and can almost not be over used. They can absorb some toxins and harmful fungi in your soil as well.
They are a super microbe rich soil amendment!
Containing millions of beneficial microorganisms that break down nutrients in the soil that plants cannot on their own. Leaving these nutrients immediately, and now easily, available for your plants to uptake.
Thus changing your everyday mild mannered plants into vigorous Super Plants!
(Seriously though, they may start wearing capes and spouting catch phrases lol.)
    They even scare off bugs!!
    (Now that's a real superhero!)
Earthworms also produce chitinase. An enzyme that breaks down chitin in the exoskeleton of some insects. Making a compost tea with worm castings and using it as a foliar spray can help repel many insects like aphids, white flies and several others while providing a wonderful morning or evening treat for your plants!
Worm castings provide a water soluble, organic and rich source of nutrients such as:
nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc, cobalt, boron, iron and carbon
Worm castings have a much higher concentration of humus than soil or compost!
Humus remains after much of the organic material in your soil has broken down, allowing air and water to move freely throughout your soil thus increasing overall aeration. Humus can hold up to 80% of its weight in water. Meaning water and nutrient retention is increased in soil rich with humus. Worm castings add greatly to your humus content and can vastly improve hydrophobic soils like clay as well. When combined with biochar, water and nutrient retention, as well as aeration are enhanced even further.
Worm castings will give your plants dynamic root growth and plant structure!
They even help prevent blossom-end rot in tomatoes!
In 2009, the U.S. Department of Agriculture did a study showing that worm castings mixed in soil would increase plant growth and productivity and inhibit pest insects and even some disease. The same study showed that some vegetables saw up to 50% increased yields from using worm castings in aerated compost tea to feed them.
Look, I could go on and on about the multitude of reasons to use worm castings as a soil amendment, in compost tea and how it will greatly benefit all of your plants... but what about biochar? What is it and why is that mixed in here?
Well, the short answer is that biochar can super boost this super booster!
(Ok, now it's time to start looking for tights... Yep, tights... capes... catch phrases... the works. You got super plants!)
Scientists have shown that soil with added biochar is more efficient at retaining crucial nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium and magnesium. Many of which are contained in worm castings naturally so it's sort of like a superhero finally finding a perfectly matched sidekick!
Biochar is basically charcoal that was created by heating biomass with little to no oxygen at high temperatures.
It provides a very porous micro structure that is perfect for many beneficial microorganisms to live in. Biochar decomposes much slower than its original biomass so this structure stays in your soil much longer than other soil amendments may.
Biochar increases microbial activity and nutrient availability while reducing aluminum toxicity and trapping carbon. It has no specific nutrient benefits itself though its charged surface, micro porosity and high surface area help retain nutrients in the soil that may otherwise leach off. Reducing the need for fertilizers overall while promoting rapid microbial growth.
That sounds like a super sidekick to me!
When used in combination with worm castings in the soil, biochar will also retain nutrients from the castings that may have otherwise leached off when you water. Allowing your plants a longer lasting, power packed nutrient source while giving your soils beneficial microbes a stronger foundation to grow on.
When combined with worm castings in a compost tea the microbes you are promoting are provided a nutrient dense food source, long term food storage in a way, as well as a great micro structure to call home. A power packed combo for boosting your plants vitality, overall health and happiness!
Our castings contain 20% biochar and are collected from red wigglers fed an organic diet of manure, vegetable waste and a combo of micronutrient rich organics to keep them healthy and thriving.
Get your old everyday mild mannered plants off their bums and into super mode!
    Pro Tip:
Place a handful of worm castings into your planting hole and a small amount of a good
mycorrhizae on top. Then plant the roots of your transplant directly on this pile before watering in. Personally I do this anytime I transplant basically anything. By putting the mycorrhizae in direct contact with your roots, worm castings and biochar... your microbes and plants will get a super start when going into new soil!

    Disclaimer:
Honestly, using worm castings with  biochar for your soil and/or compost teas will most likely only result in really awesome plants. You may not actually see a single cape or tights. Additionally, unless you are really listening closely... you may not hear a single catch phrase either. It could indeed be possible in fact, that not a single plant will rescue your cat if stuck in a tree... so please do not expect this type of result as it is only listed here as a comedic expression of what your plants will become and not a direct reflection. That said, I am in no way responsible for flying plants, telekinetic plants or plants of great strength and/or unexpected agility lol.
